The Michigan high school football playoffs resumed Friday night with a slew of regional round games taking place. One such matchup in Division 8 was a top-10 showdown between Allen Park Cabrini and Madison Heights Madison. A week ago, Cabrini dominated longtime local and Catholic League rival Riverview Gabriel Richard to capture the program’s first district championship in the sport. Madison meanwhile that same night rallied late to defeat Clarkston Everest Collegiate to secure their first district title in seven years.
In what was the first all-time meeting between the two schools, it ended up being the No. 7-ranked Monarchs from Cabrini surviving a wild back-and-forth battle late, defeating the No. 8-ranked Madison Eagles by a score of 34-32 to claim the regional crown.
