A prisoner has been executed by firing squad after his final attempt at having his sentence commuted was quashed. He is now the third person in the US state of South Carolina to be put to death in such a grim method. ‌

Stephen Bryant was shot dead by three employees from the prison , who volunteered to carry out the execution. The 44-year-old was officially declared dead at 6:05pm local time on Friday evening (November 14). ‌
