Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Wolves star Joao Gomes, as they prepare to go head-to-head with Liverpool , Chelsea and Manchester City in the upcoming summer transfer window.
All four Premier League heavyweights are said to be keen on bolstering their midfield.
Following a summer that saw them revamp their forward line under Ruben Amorim, United's focus is now firmly on strengthening their midfield. United splashed out on Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha.
Despite making overtures to Brighton and Atletico Madrid for Carlos Baleba and Conor Gallagher respectively , neither deal materialised.
United have also been linked with Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest standout Elliot Anderson.
