After the federal government shutdown ended late Nov. 12, states have been scrambling to issue SNAP benefits to families who rely on the program for food.
In South Carolina, families have either already received their November benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or can expect them within the next few days.
Almost 184,000 households — newly approved SNAP households and those with a monthly issuance date between the 1st and the 14th — received their benefits around 2 a.m. Nov. 14, Connelly-Anne Ragley, chief external affairs officer at the state Department of Social Services, told The Post and Courier.
SNAP households whose monthly issuance date is between the 15th and 19th will receive their November funds during their regularly scheduled issuance date, she said.
