“We missed a couple shots earlier in the game and we knew we would have it,” senior Emanuel Gerena said. “When the game is on the line, I want the ball in my hands.”
With 13 seconds left, the Spartans found themselves set up on the one-yard line following a 26-yard pass from Ty Costabile to Taylor Cartwright.
Coming out of a timeout, Gerena saw single coverage on the outside and made a quick move off the line to create separation. Costabile delivered a strike and the rest is history.
