FARGO — The Fargo Police Department can use a local bank’s surveillance camera system to watch for crime live in downtown, a partnership that could become more common.
Through a unanimous vote on its Oct. 27 consent agenda, the City Commission gave the police department authority to sign a contract with Bell Bank that lets officers access Bell Bank cameras in the downtown area, including at the Bell Tower, the bank’s 14-story headquarters 520 Main Ave.
“It's definitely something we're trying to move more towards, just to give us a bigger footprint of having public-facing cameras that we could possibly access to help us with investigations and issues that we're dealing with in various parts of the town,” said Criminal Investigations Capt.
