Former Virgin boss Paul Scurrah is back in the aviation game and hoping to fly more US and Asian tourists into the Pacific in his new gig.
The industry veteran started as the chief executive officer of Fiji Airways in November, marking his return to the sector after leaving Virgin Australia in 2020 as the COVID pandemic tipped the airline into administration.
Scurrah’s departure was at the time attributed to a difference in opinion with Virgin’s new private equity owner Bain Capital on the airline’s strategic direction.
But his mission statement with Fiji Airways is simple – it’s about keeping the lush, coral-ringed archipelago firmly on the global map as a premium tourist destination.
