CLEVELAND, Ohio — Families and friends are working to bring home two Cleveland State University students, engaged to be married, to Albania after a fatal crash in Cleveland earlier this week.
Samira Xhaferi, 28, and her fiancé, Albi Çela, 30, came from Albania to pursue advanced degrees, Xhaferi in a Ph.D. program and Çela in law, WKYC reported . The couple died in a two-vehicle crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, leaving classmates, faculty and the Albanian community grieving.
“They were both just really, really smart, passionate, talented people who really cared about the world,” Samia Mansour, a cousin by marriage, told WKYC.
Mansour said the couple was likely following their regular morning routine when the crash occurred.
