A Kingston man was sentenced Nov. 14 to 20 years in state prison following his conviction for armed robbery over the summer.
The Ulster County District Attorney's office announced the sentence for Torrel Skinner, 42, of Kingston. He also was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
According to the district attorney's office, Skinner was indicted for first-degree robbery, a felony, for his alleged gunpoint robbery of the Downtown Cafe on lower Broadway in the City of Kingston on Oct. 10, 2024.
According to the district attorney's office, Skinner entered the cafe and threatened the owner and a waitress with a firearm. Skinner allegedly demanded their money and threatened a "murder" if they did not comply.
Skinner fled the scene after getting their money.
