DETROIT, MI — The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is continuing to experience flight delays and cancellations.
There have been 137 flight delays so far this weekend, from Friday, Nov. 14, to Saturday, Nov. 15, according to data from FlightAware.
There were 24 cancelled flights, FlightAware reports.
Even though the federal government shutdown has officially ended, airports across the nation are still experiencing the residual consequences.
Detroit Metro is one of 40 airports ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration to reduce flights as an increasing number of air traffic controllers are calling out of work, the Associated Press reports.
Controllers had been working unpaid since Oct. 1 because of the federal government shutdown.
