The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula as an outbreak of infantile botulism linked to the product grows in the U.S.

The CFIA said it is warning the public to not consume or distribute the 238g or 680g sizes of the formula, which is sold online, due to the potential presence of the Clostridium botulinum toxin. They said it may not always be obvious by look or smell that a food is contaminated with the toxin, but it can still make you sick.

For children, food-borne botulism (a severe but rare illness caused by the contaminant) can result in difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, general weakness and paralysis. For adults, it can include facial paralysis, unreactive pupils, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision and difficulty speak
