CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - United States Customs and Border Protection agents were seen making arrests Saturday morning in Charlotte.
A WBTV viewer sent in photos of CBP agents making arrests in a shopping center on South Boulevard near Archdale Drive.
In a Nov. 13 news release, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said the sheriff was made aware on Nov. 12 that Border Patrol was coming to the Charlotte area as soon as Saturday, Nov. 15, or the early part of next week. In that release, the sheriff’s office said specifics about Border Patrol’s operation were not immediately given.
Sources told CBS News that the operation in Charlotte, named “Charlotte’s Web”, would be relatively short, and could only last one week. Another operation was also reportedly in the works in New Orleans.
