DETROIT — Customers can take home a piece of the Motor City at a new boutique selling shoes, wallets and bags made from upcycled automotive leather in Downtown Detroit.
After 10 years in business, Pingree Detroit opened its first retail location at 22 W. Columbia Street on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Located just steps from the entrance to Detroit’s famous Fox Theatre, the business joins local restaurants like Frita Batidos and fellow boutique Detroit vs. Everybody located on the pedestrian-only, brick-lined stretch of street between Park Avenue and Woodward, just steps from Comerica Park.
Pingree Detroit specializes in repurposing leather used in making car seats, steering wheels and other auto upholstery, often recycling samples sourced directly from companies like Ford or suppli
