Michael Brandsegg-Nygard scored a pair of goals Friday, and the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Toronto Marlies 5-2 at Van Andel Arena to extend their franchise-best season-opening points streak to 11 games.

The Griffins (10-0-0-1) are 6-0 at home, their best start since going 8-0 in 2009-10.

John Leonard contributed a goal and an assist to extend his points streak to nine games, tying Riley Barber for the longest to begin a Griffins career.

Carter Gylander made 21 saves for his second win, as Sebastian Cossa and Michal Postava remain out with injuries.

Amadeus Lombardi scored his second goal in as many games and extended his points streak to seven games. Sheldon Dries has a five-game points streak after picking up a pair of assists.
