Simu Liu is fiercely defending superhero movies.
In a new interview, the 36-year-old actor, who starred in Marvels’ 2021 movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , said that he believes that superhero movies have fallen out of style for some critics and fans.
“It’s kind of fashionable now to hate on it,” Simu told Variety , adding, “I think there are valid critiques of the way that movies are made, the way that production budgets are handled. I think that there are a lot of valid things to say.”
He went on to say that he doesn’t want projects based on comic books to stop completely.
“This idea of s—ting on superhero movies as a genre? I don’t know,” Simu said. “I don’t know, because I am speaking as somebody who just absolutely loved watching them as a kid.”
