MARYVILLE, Tennessee — Maryville Police Department identified the officer who was transported by AMR after a during the motorcade for Vice President JD Vance as FTO Justin Brown.
He suffered significant injuries and remained in critical condition when he was taken into surgery Saturday morning at 10 a.m., MPD said.
Several citizens who witnessed the collision stepped in to administer first aid played a critical role in saving the life of the officer, according to Chief Tony Crisp.
"To those individuals whose quick response saved FTO Brown's life last night, we can't thank you enough. You are true heroes," Crisp said.
The crash happened on East Lamar Alexander Parkway at Merrit Road on Friday evening at 6:11 p.m., while providing a "dignitary protection escort" for Vice President JD Van
