The Federal Aviation Administration expanded airplane ground directives following the Nov. 4 UPS plane crash that killed 14 .

A week after the FAA issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) grounding all MD-11 and MD-11F model airplanes, a new EAD was issued grounding additional models.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, UPS flight 2976 crashed after the left engine detached during takeoff, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. The fiery crash killed all three crew members on board the plane and 11 people on the ground and injured many others.

Flight 2976 was a 34-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-11, which is in the process of being phased out by the company.
