LSU defeated Arkansas 23-22 Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium, giving the Tigers a victory under interim coach Frank Wilson.
Here's what we learned as the Tigers' snapped a three-game losing streak, improving to 6-4 and 3-4 in the SEC:
1. Change at the top
Garrett Nussmeier couldn’t go at quarterback on Saturday, opening the door for Michael Van Buren to make his first start for LSU. Against a dreadful Arkansas defense, LSU had to fight for points and again couldn’t crack that 25-point barrier against Power Four teams. That said, Van Buren had a strong game, throwing for 221 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 36 net yards with a 35-yard scramble that Nussmeier probably couldn’t have made.
