The WITN First Alert Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Day for Sunday , with high fire danger continuing into Monday across Eastern North Carolina.
The highest risk begins Sunday afternoon, when northwest winds are expected to gust between 25 and 35 mph as humidity levels are predicted to drop to 20-30% across inland areas.
Martin, Pitt and Greene counties are included under a Fire Weather Watch for Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon. Although adjacent counties in our area is not included in the watch, those spots may also face an elevated fire danger risk on Sunday and Monday.
