Clearview became the 12th program in state history to win three consecutive state championships on Saturday.
The Pioneers, No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20, took down No. 16 North Hunterdon, 2-1, to win the program’s fourth overall state championship.
It was also the third time in four years these two met in the final.
Here are the three stars of the game.
First Star: Olivia Cherian, Clearview
Cherian broke a 1-1 tie with 7:04 to go in the fourth quarter. Her tally held up as the game-winner.
Second Star: Marissa Buck, Clearview
Buck missed roughly four weeks of play with an injury but didn’t miss a beat when coming back. The stellar senior allowed a goal 3:26 into the third quarter but was perfect the rest of the way in the 2-1 win. She had 11 saves in all.
