Demarest volleyball is one of the most storied programs in state history.
The Norsemen have a championship tradition with an expectation of competing for the state crown every season.
So when Chris DiGirolamo took over for the program in 2024, replacing the legendary Beth Powell, he had every intention of keeping those standards intact.
On Saturday, Nov. 16, Demarest found themselves playing for another state championship, but this time, under a second-year coach. The Norsemen opposed a strong Pinelands team in the NJSIAA/Wilson girls volleyball Group 2 final at Franklin HS.
Pinelands, which is about a two-hour drive from Demarest - had reached the Shore Conference championship this season. It was the perfect North vs. South showdown between two battle-tested squads.
