A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 5:47 p.m. for thunderstorms until 6:15 p.m. for Herkimer, Fulton and Montgomery counties.

Residents can look for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 5:47 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a cluster of thunderstorms near Cedarville, or near Ilion, moving east at 35 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Ilion, Herkimer, Little Falls, Mohawk, Frankfort, Fort Plain, Dolgeville, St. Johnsville, West Winfield, Ames, Jordanville, Cedarville, Oppenheim, Elizabethtown, Warren, Nelliston, Ingham Mills, Spinnerville, Cedar Lake and South Ilion. This includes Interstate 90 between exits 29A and 30.
