GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -During the Gainesville Art Fest, the Matheson History Museum dusted off some of their own stunning pieces.

During this weekend’s Gainesville art festival, at the Matheson History Museum, curators decided there were some pieces that needed their time to shine.

Behind the doors of this historic museum, sit dozens of pieces handpicked for the “Art from the Archives” exhibit, a one-day event showcasing art that has never been seen.

“We thought it was a really nice idea to pull out some of the artwork that people don’t get to see that often and show it off during the downtown arts festival,” said Executive Director Salvatore Cumella.

Museum volunteers say this is a very special exhibit, one that dives deep into the city’s rich history.
