For the first time in program history, Eastern University is the Middle Atlantic Conference football champion.
An 18-yard touchdown pass from Brett Nabb to Justin Nikolopoulos with 4:25 left made the difference in a 16-10 win over Stevenson Saturday.
It’s the seventh straight victory for the Eagles (9-1, 8-1), who finish a game ahead of Del Val and Misericordia to earn the MAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
Eastern trailed 7-3 at half but went ahead in the third quarter on Nabb’s 14-yard pass to Izayah Guy-Bruton (Chichester). The Nikolopoulos score made it 16-7. Eastern stopped Stevenson at the 13, forcing a Micah Veilleux 30-yard field goal with 1:53 left. The Eagles recovered the onside kick, then Nabb rushed nine yards on second-and-6 to kill the clock.
