EAST LANSING – That’ll do it for the home schedule and the Spartans’ unlikely bowl hopes.

In a matchup between teams riding six-game losing streaks and winless in Big Ten play, Michigan State’s misery continues after losing 28-10 against Penn State on Saturday in the final game at Spartan Stadium this fall.

Although the Spartans (3-7, 0-7 Big Ten) took a 7-0 lead on their first snap of the game, their defense kept them competitive as the offense sputtered while finishing with a season low in points and total yards (229). The Nittany Lions (4-6, 1-6) retained possession of the Land Grant Trophy while delivering Terry Smith his first win as interim coach.
