EAST LANSING — In a game where Michigan State put up its worst effort on offense this season with 10 points and 229 total yards of offense, the Spartans’ defense did enough to keep Penn State within reach.
It’s the second straight game MSU’s defense managed to stick around as they played a vital role in holding Minnesota long enough to send an eventual loss to overtime.
As well as the defense played for the better part of three quarters, it eventually came crashing down as the Nittany Lions mounted a pair of late scoring drives to push away for a victory , but not for lack of trying by the Spartans’ defense.
