GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - Two people were killed and five others injured early Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 249 near FM 1774, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision happened just before 1 a.m. when troopers say the driver of a Ford Escape traveling westbound crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Toyota Highlander head-on. Moments later, the Escape was hit by a westbound Honda Civic.
DPS says the driver of the Highlander died at the scene following the initial impact with the Escape. The driver of the Escape was killed when it was struck by the Civic.
Four passengers inside the Highlander and the driver of the Civic survived and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
