KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee defensive back Boo Carter was inactive in Tennessee’s 42-9 win against New Mexico State on Saturday with a hip injury, but he was noticeably absent from the sidelines during the win.
Following the game, Josh Heupel said the following regarding the situation: “At the end of the day, there’s a standard that you have to meet to be in that locker room,” said Heupel. “He was not out on the field with us.”
Heupel added it would be the final statement made about Carter in his postgame press conference.
Carter has seen his role gradually decrease in 2025 following a standout freshman campaign in 2024.
Against Oklahoma, Carter didn’t log a single defensive snap and was only on the field to return punts.
This season, the Chattanooga native has made 25 tackles
