Despite 30 points from Tarence Guinyard and 18 from Jimmie Williams, Duquesne men’s basketball dropped its first game of the season against host Villanova, 87-77, in the finale of the Villanova Challenge.

Villanova (3-1) used a 20-7 run during the last six minutes of the first half to power its 45-35 lead going into halftime and the Wildcats never lost it. Bryce Lindsay led the Wildcats with 9 points during the run while Acaden Lewis poured in two 3-pointers, a layup and an and-one.

Guinyard reached double-digits for the fourth straight game and became the first Duke to reach 30 points in two years.

Senior forward David Dixon marked his 100th career game played at Duquesne. He is the Atlantic 10’s active leader in games played.
