A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized after running into the side of a moving SUV on Long Island, Suffolk County Police announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.
The child had just been taken out of a parked car on Douglass Street in Brentwood by his mother, Tatiana Correa, when he ran across the street, stopped, and then sprinted back into the side of an eastbound 2015 Land Rover Discovery driven by Kelly Benavides, 50, on Saturday, Nov. 15 at around 5 p.m., according to police.
He was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital before being transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for observation and evaluation of possible injuries, police said.
Benavides, of Brentwood, was not injured, and the vehicle was impounded for a safety check, authorities said.
