On Sunday at 1:31 a.m. the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 1 p.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison and Cortland counties.

"Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches, mainly in higher terrain areas. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Mixed rain and wet snow in early afternoon, will become narrow bands of accumulating lake effect snow late afternoon through Monday."
