CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The seats on the bus for the ride back to Huntington on Saturday might not have been comfortable for members of the Marshall University men's basketball team.
"I mean, they took us to the woodshed," Thundering Herd coach Corny Jackson said after a 104-76 loss at Virginia (5-0) in John Paul Jones Arena. "You know they're a good team. We knew that coming in. They have a lot of weapons. They execute. They're disciplined."
The Cavaliers displayed all those qualities against Marshall in front of 11,776 onlookers. Virginia led 61-33 at halftime, made 33 of 63 (52.3%) shots, sank 12 of 28 (42.8%) shots from 3-point range and finished with a 38-35 rebounding edge. Virginia converted 15 Herd turnovers into 25 points.
