HUNTINGTON — No. 5-seeded UCF claimed the Sun Belt Conference men’s soccer tournament championship on Sunday, 3-1 over No. 3-seeded Marshall at Hoops Family Field.
The Knights entered the match with seven wins and two ties in their last 10 matches, including a 1-0 shutout of No. 1-seeded Kentucky to reach its first conference final since 2021.
On Sunday, UCF avenged its only loss in that stretch – 2-0 to the Herd to end the regular season.
UCF was led by a brace from Lilian Ricol and took a 3-0 advantage before a late Olimpico from Marshall’s Carl Romberg in the 72nd minute created the final margin.
“Incredible,” UCF coach Scott Calabrese said. “This group of young men is incredible. I could not be prouder. This group was 2-5-1 to start the season. To end the season as Sun Belt champio
