America, I don’t know what you did to deserve this, but U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville might be about to sue you.

As you probably heard, the Senate budget deal to end the shutdown included a sneaky new provision. It allows some U.S. Senators who have their phone records subpoenaed without their knowledge to sue for up to $500,000.

Mind you, this law doesn’t protect regular people, only U.S. Senators. If the Justice Department wants our phone records, that’s fine by them.

Heck, they didn’t even include their buddies in the U.S. House.

And up here in DC, that’s just rude.
