SWEETWATER, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Sweetwater Police Department said a suspect in a bank robbery was taken into custody after a bank fraud investigation.
Detectives with SPD began the fraud investigation on Monday after receiving reports of incidents that happened from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8, according to the department.
SPD said detectives identified three suspects and a vehicle, and they were later found by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
After a brief foot chase with one of the suspects, they were all taken into custody, SPD said. The main suspect, 62-year-old Eddie Montgomery, was found to be wanted out of Atlanta in connection to a 2024 bank robbery. U.S. Marshals took him into custody, and he was taken back to Georgia.
