The call came in just before noon, when Tower 30 was requested for a house fire after clearing an alarm in Finderne Heights, officials said.

The fire left the Spadea family — Vito, Kim, and their two young daughters — with nothing but the clothes they escaped in, according to a GoFundMe launched for the family.

By Sunday morning, the GoFundMe organized by Lindsey Calistri and Emily Calistri had surged past $75,000. Organizers said the family.

Officer Spadea is known across Somerville and ICS schools for mentoring students as the D.A.R.E. officer. Kim, the PTO president, is the parent who’s always organizing, helping, and showing up for others, the campaign says. Their daughters, ages 8 and 10, lost their home, belongings, and sense of security in minutes, the organizers said.

Funds raised will help the family with clothing, essentials, temporary housing, and the long road ahead. The organizers urged anyone who can to donate or share the page, saying the family needs the community “after such a devastating loss.”
