ATLANTA — A North Carolina man could spend time behind bars after he was convicted of a hate crime for sending antisemitic threats to a State House Representative and a rabbi in Macon, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office Middle District of Georgia.
Both Rep. Esther Panitch and Rabbi Elizabeth Bahar publicly supported the passing of the Georgia House Bill 30, the first state legislation defining antisemitism.
In 2024, Rep. Esther Panitch co-supported the bill, and Rabbi Bahar , testified before the Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee in support of it.
