KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Boo Carter has been dismissed from the Tennessee football team, according to our media partner Volquest .

The report comes a day after the defensive back was absent from the sideline for Tennessee’s win against New Mexico State.

After the game, Josh Heupel said the following regarding Carter’s absence from the sideline: “At the end of the day, there’s a standard that you have to meet to be in that locker room. He was not out on the field with us.”

Carter saw his role gradually decrease in 2025 following a standout freshman campaign in 2024.

Against Oklahoma, Carter didn’t log a single defensive snap and was only on the field to return punts.
