The O.J. Simpson estate has accepted a nearly $58 million settlement to pay Fred Goldman decades after he won a wrongful death lawsuit against the late former football star, TMZ reports.
Malcolm LaVergne, the Simpson estate executor, filed court documents this week accepting Fred Goldman’s creditor claim for $57,997,858.12, plus judgment interest.
Goldman had originally requested more than $117 million, but LaVergne argued the interest wasn’t calculated correctly despite what he described as a good faith effort by Goldman to determine an accurate amount, the report said.
The settlement stems from a 1996 civil court case in which Simpson was found liable for the death of Ron Goldman, Fred’s son. In the civil case, the Goldmans were awarded more than $33 million, but Simpson paid only a
