A bill in Albany could mandate that speed limiter devices are installed in the cars of New York’s most frequent speeders, according to a recent report from the New York Post .

The Stop Super Speeders Act would force frequent speeders drivers to install a GPS-based speed limiter, preventing them from driving over a certain speed, according to the outlet.

The bill, which already passed in the State Senate, would impact that any driver who accumulates 11 points on their license within 18 months or who gets 16 or more speed camera tickets in a year, the Post reports.

Elected officials sponsoring the legislation estimate that about 3,000 drivers could get limiters if the bill is signed into law, according to the publication.
