The hangar has over 36 historic aircraft, both military and civilian

After five decades of preserving Alberta’s aviation history, the Hangar Flight Museum celebrated its 50th anniversary in Calgary on Monday.

Brian Desjardin, executive director for the museum located along McCall Way NE, said it is quite a milestone for the non-profit to reach that milestone.

“We’re very proud to celebrate and tell Calgary’s rich aviation history,” Desjardin said. “ Many streets are named after former Air Force aviation pilots. McKnight Blvd, who’s Willie McKnight, who was in the Second World War, and McCall Way is Freddie McCall in the First World War.”

Currently, the hangar holds over 36 historic aircraft, both military and civilian.
