FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- A rally was held in Queens in attempts to block a new casino from opening up.
Opponents of the plan gathered in Flushing, near the site of the proposed project.
Mets owner Steve Cohen has already won community approval for an $8 billion gaming mecca adjacent to Citi Field.
Demonstrators say if enough people from the neighborhood get involved, it's still possible to quash the casino.
"They think this project has already passed when it has not, but we are here to say no to this casino. Our community is not for sale and Queens, most of all is not for sale," said one demonstrator.
The proposal received unanimous support from the community advisory council and is supported by the borough president and other city and state leaders.
