Grand Valley State wrapped up its regular season with a 69-13 win over Roosevelt on Saturday in front of 6,244 fans at Lubbers Stadium, but it wasn’t enough to get the Lakers in the playoffs.
The NCAA announced its 32-team Division II playoff bracket on Sunday, and for the first time since 2019, GVSU failed to make the cut.
The playoff field expanded from 28 to 32 teams for the 2025 season, and for the first time, it included automatic qualifiers in the form of 16 conference champions, so even though GVSU entered the week ranked 21st nationally, the Lakers ended on the wrong side of the playoff bubble.
At 7-3, GVSU ends the year with its fewest wins since going 6-5 in 2014. The Lakers were 5-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, finishing tied with Saginaw Valley St
