WINNIPEG — Call it a long and winding road to redemption for quarterback Trevor Harris.

Harris won his first Grey Cup in a starter’s role as the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the Montreal Alouettes 25-17 at the Grey Cup at Princess Auto Stadium on Sunday evening.

The 39-year-old signal-caller picked up two championships previously in a backup role — with the Toronto Argonauts in 2012, and the Ottawa Redblacks four years later.

Harris passed for 302 yards with no touchdowns but no interceptions. Backup Riders quarterback Tommy Stephens rushed for two touchdowns, both one-yard runs while running back AJ Ouellette scored once. He rushed the ball 17 times for 83 yards.
