ATLANTA — "A brilliant light, gone too soon:" Those words are now feet away from where Thomas Hyneman's daughter, Alex, was struck and killed riding her bike in 2016.
"To me it kind of adds a face in some ways to this memorial that's been here since 2016," Hyneman said.
People gathered at the new plaque on 10th and Monroe not only to step back and remember Alex and loved ones killed in crashes, but also take a step forward for change.
Satya Bhan is helping relaunch Atlanta's chapter of Families for Safe Streets, coming together to form the group alongside other people whose lives were impacted by crashes.
"There are so many people who have these stories, and we're trying to make a difference of improving the street designs and safety so families don't have to go through this," Bhan sa
