The Queensland government says removing restrictions on keeping dingoes does not mean people will be able to have them as pets, but experts fear that could be an unintended consequence.

As part of a suite of changes to biosecurity legislation, Queensland is currently considering changes that would reclassify dingoes as Canis familiaris , the same as domestic dogs, and remove the restriction on keeping dingoes.
