The Jaffar Express narrowly escaped another bombing attempt on Sunday after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along its route detonated moments after the train passed through Balochistan’s Nasirabad district, police and railway officials confirmed. The incident adds to a growing list of attacks on one of Pakistan’s most frequently targeted passenger trains.
Officials said unidentified attackers had planted the IED on the railway track in the Shaheed Abdul Aziz Bullo area. The Quetta-to-Peshawar train crossed the spot seconds before the device exploded, causing no injuries. Railway staff later confirmed that a section of the track was damaged, disrupting services between Quetta and other regions.
