The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ passing game stepped up when they needed it most.

In Sunday’s Grey Cup win over the Montreal Alouettes, the connection between quarterback Trevor Harris and wide receiver Samuel Emilus proved to be a major difference maker in the 25-17 victory. And the duo was recognized for their excellent performances.

Harris was named the game’s MVP, and Emilus took home Grey Cup Most Outstanding Canadian honours.

The 39-year-old Harris set a Grey Cup record for completion percentage in the win. The veteran QB completed 23 of his 27 passes (85.2 per cent), besting the record owned by former Toronto Argonauts pivot Doug Flutie, who completed 78.9 per cent of his passes in the 1997 Grey Cup.
