Authorities found a woman dead inside a Somerset County home after police were called Sunday afternoon for reports of gunfire, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Somerville police were called to a residence on Mastogen Drive at 1:08 p.m., the prosecutor’s office said.
After officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside, the county’s SWAT team entered the home.
They detained a man and later found a woman dead, the prosecutor’s office said. The man was taken to a local hospital under police guard, the prosecutor’s office said.
Detectives from the Somerville police and the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit were in the beginning of an investigation Sunday evening and no other details were immediately available.
