The North East has been issued a 'cold weather alert' as temperatures are set to drop and local health services are likely to be in high demand.
The government agency issued alert follows the wrath of Storm Claudia and its destructive winds . The cold weather warning comes into action on Monday, November 17 and covers the North East as well as the the East Midlands, North West, West Midlands and Yorkshire and The Humber.
It is in place from 8am on Monday until 8am on Friday, November 21 as the weather is predicted to get frostier with cold conditions and wintry hazards expected across the country. According to the Met Office, Teesside is due to expect snow this week, with brief snow showers interrupting longer spells of rain.
